Be on your guard tomorrow morning; go into hiding and stay there. 3 I will go out and stand with my father in the field where you are. Now that we've looked at Samuel's prelude to kingship, we should turn to the second division of the book of Samuel, Saul's failed kingship in 1 Samuel 8–2 Samuel 1. SAUL'S FAILED KINGSHIP As the author of Samuel continued to recount how God had directed events before David came to be king, he faced a difficult challenge. COVID Resources.
